Masvidal Blasts Sonnen’s Accusations – ‘He Was On Seven Different PEDs’
Jorge Masvidal issued a rebuttal to Chael Sonnen after Chael cast doubt on Masvidal’s claims of an imminent Octagon return.
Masvidal, who hasn’t competed in the UFC since his April 2023 loss to Gilbert Burns at UFC 287, finds himself defending his name as he attempts to end a four-fight losing streak. Masvidal revealed that he turned down a lucrative opportunity to compete on the May 16 Netflix card headlined by Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano.
Despite the massive global platform of Netflix, Masvidal reportedly declined a slot on the card to ensure his schedule remains clear for a UFC return. Sonnen was quick to dismiss this, suggesting that Masvidal is using the “UFC talks” as a smokescreen.

“I have no problem with Masvidal lying, trying to get headlines. As a matter of fact, I support it. You don’t want to contradict your own lie; that’s where the problem comes. If you’re lying to get headlines, you’re not a liar, you’re a performer, and you’re entertaining…but you have to keep track of your story. Masvidal has been workshopping a story that ‘I’m back in the pool, under contract, fighting in the UFC, and got something massive coming up’.

I wasn’t going to bust his gimmick, run with it! Now, he’s come out with the truth, and it contradicts the lies,” Masvidal said

Masvidal fired back with a blunt assessment of Sonnen’s career, calling him a “professional hater” and confirming that formal discussions with Hunter Campbell and the UFC have commenced. While he waits for a concrete date and opponent, Masvidal remains active on the business side, overseeing the growth of Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA.
“I can’t take this guy seriously. The only serious thing this guy did was fighting Anderson Silva, lost, got triangle tapped, and he was on seven different PEDs. Dude, you can’t talk to me. I’ve never had a positive exam for steroids in my life, shut the f*** up, Chael, you’re talking to a real fighter.
“I never said I’m ‘officially’ fighting at the White House, you f****** lying piece of s***. There was a lot of interest in that fight, at first, and there was a big chance I’d be on that card. They asked me for a few things, and then the date changed…not contradicting anything, it’s called ‘Rolling with the punches’. Now, the UFC has offered me something else…every time he mentions my name, his 17 fans tune in,” Masvidal stated
