Former Bellator champion Liz Carmouche will face UFC veteran Viviane Araujo in the co-main event of PFL San Diego on June 27 at Pechanga Arena.

The matchup pits PFL’s second-ranked flyweight against the ninth-ranked Araujo in what the promotion described as a potential title eliminator, per a release cited by Sherdog. With undefeated Dakota Ditcheva sidelined by a hand injury, the winner could emerge as the next challenger at 125 pounds.

Carmouche riding tournament momentum into Araujo clash

Carmouche enters off a dominant 2025 campaign in which she captured the PFL flyweight tournament with three straight wins, stopping Jena Bishop in the finals. The 42-year-old San Diego native has posted a 12-1 record since leaving the UFC in 2019, with her lone loss coming via decision to Taila Santos in 2024.

Araujo signed with PFL after going 7-6 in the UFC and earned her first promotional victory at PFL Chicago on April 11, taking a decision over Shanna Young. The 39-year-old Brazilian previously notched wins over Karine Silva, Jennifer Maia and Andrea Lee during her UFC tenure, as MMA Fighting reported.

The main card airs on ESPN2 at 10 p.m. ET, with A.J. McKee facing Salamat Isbulaev in the featherweight headliner.
