Professional Career

Michel Soro’s professional boxing career has been characterized by notable achievements and significant bouts across several years. Starting his journey on October 2, 2008, at the Cirque d’Hiver in Paris, Soro secured a third-round TKO against Said Moulkraloua, setting the tone for his aggressive fighting style. His early career was marked by a series of victories that built his reputation, including a decisive first-round TKO over Jeremy Facq on February 14, 2009. Soro’s ascent in the boxing world continued as he captured the WBO European light middleweight title on July 29, 2011, with a unanimous decision win against David Makaradze. This victory was part of a streak that saw him defeat opponents with a mix of technical knockouts and points decisions, showcasing his versatility and tactical acumen.

A pivotal moment in his career came on May 12, 2012, when he faced Zaurbek Baysangurov for the WBO and IBO light middleweight titles but suffered a setback with a unanimous decision loss. Undeterred, Soro bounced back and continued to claim victories, including winning the vacant European middleweight title on June 20, 2015, against Emanuele Blandamura by knockout in the eighth round. Soro’s career, however, has not been without its challenges. He faced Israil Madrimov twice, with their first meeting on December 17, 2021, resulting in a loss by TKO in the ninth round, and their rematch on July 9, 2022, ending in a technical draw in the third round due to an unforeseen interruption. Despite these setbacks, Soro demonstrated resilience and capability to compete at high levels. His most recent fight on May 31, 2024, against Oziel Santoyo in Lyon, France, was a triumphant return to form, where he achieved a knockout in the second round.
