UFC White House Card Takes Top Security Measures

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmed that UFC Freedom 250—and its massive auxiliary Fan Festival—has been granted a Level 1 Special Event Assessment Rating (SEAR 1).
By assigning this top-tier classification, federal authorities are acknowledging that the June 14 event on the White House South Lawn holds “significant national and international importance,” placing it on the same footing as the Super Bowl and the FIFA World Cup Finals.
The rating mandates a unified command featuring the U.S. Secret Service, FBI, and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). Security will extend far beyond the South Lawn, involving cyber-risk assessments to protect digital broadcasts and the “Freedom Fest” ticketing systems on The Ellipse.
The Measures
Residents and visitors in D.C. will see a heightened presence of explosive-detection canine units and field intelligence teams integrated with local police. DHS will enforce a strict Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) over the South Lawn and the Ellipse. Any unauthorized aircraft or consumer drones entering the radius will be subject to immediate federal interdiction.
As the event coincides with President Trump’s 80th birthday, screening protocols will be identical to a Presidential inauguration. This applies to all 4,000 guests on the lawn and the 85,000 fans at the Ellipse watch party.
