What’s Next For Paddy Pimblett?

Paddy Pimblett took aim at interim lightweight champion Justin Gaethje, calling for a rematch, as we look at what is next.
Pimblett’s undefeated run came to a halt on January 24 at UFC 324, where Gaethje secured a unanimous decision victory (48-47, 49-46, 49-46) to claim the interim strap and a headlining slot at the UFC White House event this June.
“The Baddy” has publicly labeled Gaethje a “dirty fighter,” attributing his loss to a series of fouls that he claims altered the course of the fight. Pimblett insists that multiple inadvertent eye pokes severely compromised his vision. Because of the defeat, Pimblett was forced to watch from the sidelines as Gaethje moved on to face lightweight champion Ilia Topuria on June 14.

Pimblett Reacts
While a direct rematch with Gaethje is off the table for the immediate future—due to Gaethje’s commitment to the White House card—Pimblett has already circled a date for his return to the Octagon. Pimblett has confirmed his intention to compete at UFC 329 on July 11, 2026, in Las Vegas.
“Everyone loses, that’s how you learn. That’s how you get better. I probably learned more from losing that fight than I did from winning seven other UFC fights… I’ll be back better and stronger, and everyone’s going to see. I’ve always said it’s my destiny that I’ll be the world champion and I will. Hopefully I can get the rematch with Gaethje. I’ve got nothing but respect for him but he’s a dirty bastard for poking me in the eyes,” Paddy said

Dan Hooker could also be an option. Hooker is a gatekeeper to the top 5. If Pimblett truly believes he belongs in the cage with Gaethje, he must first get past a durable, long-limbed striker. If Paddy can showcase his grappling against a striker who has historically struggled with high-level submission threats, then it may help him secure the Justin rematch.
Since Pimblett is coming off a loss where he felt “compromised,” a matchup against Renato Moicano offers a chance to reclaim his momentum. Both men are dangerous on the mat. A win here would propel Paddy back into the conversation for a title shot.
| Opponent | Style | Why it works |
| Dan Hooker | Muay Thai / Striker | Hooker provides a measuring stick for Paddy’s durability |
| Renato Moicano | BJJ / Aggressive | It allows Paddy to lean into his grappling |
